From November 29 to December 3, 2004, the first European Space Weather Week was held in ESTEC, the technical office of the European Space Agency (ESA) in the Netherlands.
The SIDC presented several new products which resulted from our involvement in the ESA Space Weather Application Pilot Project. Many scientist showed a true interest in us as a regional warning center offering specific space weather alerts and forecasts. Contacts like this are the key to a broader collaborative network. Posters presented concerned an overview of the SIDC Pilot Project, the CACTus software, the solar weather browser tool, the quality control of the forecasts, the gps-product and the SWAP-instrument onboard of the satellite PROBA II which will be launched in 2006.
Two other members of the team gave an oral presentation:
- Solar and interplanetary sources of severe geomagnetic storms in November 2004 by Andrei Zhukov.
- Monitoring capabilities for solar weather nowcast and forecast by Jean-François Hochedez.
