Title: Flux rope deflections due to coronal holes and pseudostreamers
Speaker: Abril Sahade from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba
Abstract
Understanding the causes of coronal mass ejection (CME) deflections is essential for space weather forecasting. We perform ideal magnetohydrodynamical simulations that emulate the early ascent of a flux rope (FR) in the presence of a coronal hole (CH) or a pseudostreamer (PS) and study the effects on the trajectories of CMEs produced by these magnetic structures. We find that the presence of magnetic energy null points plays a crucial role in the initial deflection in both scenarios. During the seminar, we present specific results for each interaction and the analysis of an observational event with a peculiar behaviour.
