Speaker: Dr. Pierre de Buyl
Title: Open Science: an overview
Abstract:
The term Open Science includes open access publishing, open-source software, open data, and open educational resources. Those categories are each based on well-defined requirements in terms of licenses, for media as well as for software. Open Science should also be considered in terms of communities and private actors, including policies by funders and commercial interests. Examples will be given that are of specific interest to climate and weather scientists. The distinction between the principles of open-science and the tools required for its practice will be discussed, as well as the case of open science at RMI.
