Topical Discussion Meeting - How can ionospheric products be enhanced to reach better applicability for users?

Claudia Borries (German Aerospace Center)
Monday 27/11, 10:45 - 12:00, Mercator

The ESA SSA space weather portal provides numerous ionospheric products for mitigation of space weather related problems in navigation and communication applications. They are providing information on the state of the ionosphere and its perturbations. A number of these products including maps of Total Electron Content (TEC), scintillation parameters, F2 layer critical frequency (foF2) and measures of ionospheric perturbations like Rate of change Of TEC Index (ROTI) and GNSS based flare detectors (SISTED and GSFLAI) will be presented throughout the ESWW14. This meeting will start with a short overview on the ionospheric products provided by the ionosphere expert service centre to the SSA space weather portal. Users of GNSS single and dual frequency applications, users in the aviation sector, users of communication systems impacted by ionosphere and any other users interested in the provision of information on the ionosphere in the SSA space weather network are welcome to discuss with the expert groups providing the ionospheric products how applicable they are for the users and how they can be enhanced to reach a better usability.
