Wednesday 20/11, 11:15-12:30

This SALE+ topical discussion meeting will concentrate on those environments present aboard explorative missions which result in impacts on mission performance and the well-being of human crews. A preliminary list of items for the discussion includes: • An invited talk given by Prof. B. Jackson (Univ. of California, San Diego, USA) “Suggestions to optimize the observation of Space Weather impacts on the Environments of Venus and Mercury during the BepiColombo Mission” followed by a discussion. • Needs and requirements for infrastructure to allow human presence in space, which includes the assessment of different shielding geometries and its influence on the biological effects occurring in humans. • Forecasting services relevant for human explorative missions to the Moon and Mars and in aircraft operations. A number of scientific questions relevant to the domain of the working group will be prepared by the Executive to stimulate discussion and ideas for these questions can be submitted to the Chair and Co- chairs in advance of the meeting. A panel of associated experts will facilitate the discussion with their own thoughts on, and answers to, these questions. Potential attendees will be asked to indicate if they are willing to be solicited for inputs to drive the discussions and they will also be encouraged to bring along a slide to further engage the audience. A secretary will be appointed to capture the content of the resulting scientific interchanges and to collect the slides so that this material can be coordinated and circulated to interested attendees and to team members who cannot attend.
